Pros
The insert comes out of the diaper which allows for fast drying and less chance of odor retention. You can fill the pocket with more than one insert (doublers) if you have a heavy wetter or need extra absorbency at night. They come with snap or hook and loop closures. There are lots of different types of pocket diapers to choose from. Many are now one-sized, meaning they fit 0-35lbs!
Cons
These diapers are not as "easy" as AIOs, but they are close. Some find it difficult to get the inserts in the diapers straight. Also, if you're looking for completely organic, these are not your diaper. The water repellant outside contains a breathable plastic.
One Size Diapers are just what the
name says. They fit your baby from birth to potty learning (typically
8-35 lbs). The part that gets most people confused is the type of
diaper they are available in. They can be fitted, pocket, or AIO
diapers. Different companies make OS diapers, and some companies only
make OS diapers, so there are many different brands too. Currently most OS diapers are pocket diapers. PROS and CONS
They are truly a good buy because
they are easy on the budget since you only have to buy once. However,
be aware that sometimes one-size does NOT fit all! This is often true
in newborns. Many newborns are simply too small for the bulk of an OS
diaper, but if you can wait it out a few weeks they typically gain
weight fast enough to "fill in the gaps".
